New Executive Director Adam Cameron hired

April 25, 2019 – Sand Springs Recreational Center announced today that it has hired Adam Cameron as its new Executive Director. Mr. Cameron grew up in Williamstown and spent many summer days at Sand Springs as a child.  He moved back to town after living in Cincinnati, OH and Albany, NY.  Most recently, he was a digital consultant for an academic media firm while operating his other business ventures here in the Berkshires.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Mr. Cameron has joined our organization,” said Ben Sosne, President of SSRC. “He is a talented leader and brings a range of expertise that makes him perfect for this multi-faceted role.  He has a deep appreciation for the property and the community and has an energy that is contagious.  He also has ambitious plans for continuing to improve the facility and the guest experience.”

“I have many fond memories of swimming at the Sand Springs pool throughout my childhood and am excited to preserve that experience for generations to come,” said Mr. Cameron.  “My vision for the organization is to expand on outgoing director Geraldine Shen’s tireless work, deploy new services, increase membership and ensure financial success. I am eager to meet all of our amazing members at the pool this season. They can expect the same amazing customer experience, new food items, and expanded programming.”

Sand Springs has been a jewel of the northern Berkshire region for nearly 250 years.  The curative properties of the pure spring water and the bucolic setting have attracted residents and tourists for generations. One of the only thermal spas in the Northeast, the water of Sand Springs bubbles to the surface at a mean temperature of 72 degrees throughout the year.  The George family purchased the property in 1950 and operated it for more than 50 years before selling it to Wampanaug Springs, Inc. in 2003.  Under Wampanaug’s ownership, the facility was completely renovated and updated. Sand Springs Recreational Center purchased the facility in July, 2013 and has been operating it as a non-profit 501(c)(3) community organization.

Members of the SSRC board include: Ben Sosne, James Cart, Karrie Honeker, Kaye Shaddock, Steve Narey, Carolyn Miles, Nicole Methot, Sarah Raymond, Geraldine Shen, and Jen Rork.
