About Sand Springs Recreational Center, Inc: Sand Springs Recreational Center, Inc. (SSRC), is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit charged with managing the Sand Springs pool in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The pool has been in almost continuous operation since 1907. The pool operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. In addition to recreational swimming, the facility is home to the Samuelson Swim Academy, a world-class learn-to-swim program. Other activities available on site include use of the exercise facilities, sauna, hot tub, basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes. The facility may be rented to a tenant year round or be leased out for special events. Finally, the organization offers some winter programming, including exercise classes, and is hoping to expand these services. Sand Springs is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Executive Director Job Description – The executive director will be responsible for all aspects of the organization’s operations and success. This is a part-time position that will average 20-hours/week over 12 months: during the summer season the work will be near full time, whereas during the school year there will be great flexibility in hours and schedule. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Pool operations (CPO Certification a plus)
- Management of all staff and contractors
- Food service (ServSafe certification a plus)
- Facilities management
- Special events marketing
- Tenant marketing
- Membership and donor management
- Marketing, public relations and social media
- Partnerships with other community organizations
- Customer service
- Monthly board reporting; monthly meetings of all board committees
We’re looking for a friendly, smart, capable self-starter who embraces the challenge of working with a new organization that has deep roots in the community. The successful candidate will have a can-do spirit, as well as a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in related fields. Someone with a background in marketing, development, nonprofit management, customer service or other related fields will be favorably considered. Some management experience is a must. The successful candidate should be comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite of products, and familiarity with Quickbooks or similar accounting software, and database programs would be useful. The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
